In this trip, you will get views of the majestic Beanna Beola and the Maamturk range of mountains.

You begin by taking the main Galway road from Clifden and driving eastwards for about 9 km until the wooded lake of Ballinahinch appears to our right. By now, the majestic sweep of the southern end of the Beanna Beola Mountains fills our view to the left until we reach and take the left turn for the Inagh Valley a little further on. Suddenly, you are in a different world as the western side of the Maamturk Mountains - Maam Tuirc (the Pass of the Boar) looms high above to the right as the road winds around Derryclare Lough and Lough Inagh. These picturesque salmon and sea trout lakes are, in turn, overawed by the sheer size of the towering peaks of the Beanna Beola mountains, which rise steeply up to over 600 metres from the water's edge. The naturally wooded islands in Lough Inagh are being added to by the vast areas of new afforestation which leads us to the Clifden-leenane road where you turn right.
