Mac Lir Barge Trips
www.maclir.com
Mac lir offer a day-time tour which gives people the chance to enjoy the cruise as well as hearing about the history of Ireland's longest and oldest inland water system.
Like a modern motorway the Grand Canal was once a vital artery of trade and commerce. Linking Dublin with the Shannon and beyond, its barges carried Guinness and the grain, the wheat and the whiskey, the farm produce and the people.
The cruise departs from the Mespil Road jetty and ascends 3 manually operated locks into Portabello, turns and descends the locks back to its point of departure.
The journey takes about 2.5 hours. The Mac Lir is a fully licensed passenger vessel, with a full bar, friendly crew and a capacity for 50 passengers and an unlimited capacity for craic.
IEP7.00 adults, IEP5.00 with Student ID - available from Dublin Tourism, Suffolk Street.
Limited tickets available on board.
NB: Daytime tours finished for the season. Group
bookings only at night.
